| MONDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2009 Honest Andy Dear Conservatives, Republicans and Independents Looking for Reform,
Enter Andy McKenna. If incantations of poll-tested buzzwords is what you're in the market for then, friends, look no further than Andy McKenna. McKenna is the former Illinois Republican Party Chairman who despite having the top party post in the state for the past five years has cast himself as the, ahem, fresh-faced "outsider" ready to shake up Springfield. How's he going to do that? Why with the support of Springfield insiders like longtime House Minority Leader Tom Cross, who endorsed McKenna's candidacy. Enough politics. Are you ready for Andy McKenna on policy? When asked on the Roe Conn Show (WLS-AM 890) for a specific spending cut he would make, McKenna offered the $2.5 million budgeted for the Lieutenant Governor's office this fiscal year because we don't currently have a Lt. Gov. $2.5 million. We have a budget deficit north of $10 billion. What else you got, Andy? When asked on the Don Wade & Roma Morning Show (WLS-AM 890) what he would do about the state's moratorium on the death penalty, McKenna decisively offered that he would "review it" and then perhaps think about doing something one way or the other. Take a listen. When asked about K-12 reform at the gubernatorial debate sponsored by the Illinois GOP earlier this month, McKenna confidently suggested that we should do "whatever it takes" to improve education in Illinois. No word yet on what specifically that "whatever" may include. To be fair, McKenna is hardly the only candidate running a policy-free campaign. There are others who similarly offer strings of words that when combined have no substantive meaning. But in his recent barrage of TV and radio ads, McKenna is decidedly out-slithering the field by declaring that he is, "…the one honest, outsider businessman…" First, the passive aggressive implication that Honest Andy makes is that others in the field are not honest. Every other candidate in this race is a businessman in their chosen field. While I disagree with them on certain policies or certain judgment calls, I have found my opponents, perhaps now with the exception of Honest Andy, to be honest. If Honest Andy knows otherwise, he should come right out and say it rather than engaging in gutless innuendo. Second, according to several of my opponents, it was Honest Andy who whistled certain gubernatorial candidates into his office while he was State Party Chairman and had them lay out their campaign plans even as he was apparently plotting his own campaign for Governor, something he did not disclose. If that is not dishonest it is at minimum disingenuous. The great irony is that Honest Andy, like the kid on the playground who nicknames himself, is none of the things he professes to be. There will be some who say this is "negative" campaigning. But I am no more going to abide Honest Andy's extreme political makeover which threatens to debilitate our party than I am the scams run by Chicago Democrats whose policy choices have destroyed our state. Sincerely,
Dan Proft |

![]() Register For Your ObamaCare Draft Card! White House Alert: The ObamaCare Draft Is Legal! You read that correctly. You are to be drafted against your will into ObamaCare. Obama, Pelosi and the Democrats have shut Americans out of the Healthcare debate and now you are being drafted. At the core of ObamaCare there is a legal question "Does the United States Constitution give the United States Congress the authority to mandate individuals to have health insurance, to carry health insurance?" Simple put AmeriPac Says NO! The ObamaCare Draft plan is simply, you just register to get your ObamaCare Draft Card. Then wait in line for the ObamaCare lottery to draw your number and tell you when you can line up at a government clinic to get care. BUT I DO NOT WANT TO REGISTER FOR THE OBAMACARE DRAFT Not registering is not an option. The penalty for those who choose not to get insurance, is 2.5% of one's income and the penalties will be collected by the IRS. You will be fined and you will get a criminal record but you will not go to jail (what a relief) if you want to care for yourself. Now Reid is set to push ObamaCare in the Senate. We must be vigilant as Reid is planning a Senate vote by the end of the year. The focus is now on the Senate and we must continue to tell Democratic leaders not to compromise on provisions that are leaving many questioning the viability of the bill. Nothing Is Being Done To Reduce Health Care Premium Costs. The ObamaCare plan has no Tort Reform and will leave hospitals and doctors with growing massive legal and malpractice insurance costs and increase premiums. No reduction in prescription costs will continue to force Americans to bear the cost of drug research and development worldwide. While the Chinese and the rest of the world get reduced drug costs the premiums for Americans increase. With no provisions in ObamaCare to reduce the cost of doctors, nurses, hospitals and treatments premiums will spiral out of control. No problem just Tax the wealthy to bankroll ObamaCare. Reid has asked the Congressional Budget Office to analyze a proposal to increase the Medicare payroll tax for people making more than $250,000 per year to help pay ObamaCare. Premiums are based on the cost of care and the number of people paying those premiums. With no cost controls Obama is mortgaging America's healthcare future by not addressing the costs of tort reform, prescription drugs and making China and the rest of the world help pay for drug research not just the US The unknown program details will be worked out over the next four years. The 111 NEW BOARDS, bureaucracies, commissions, and programs created in H.R. 3962, Speaker Pelosi's government takeover of health care are sure to cost at least $3,000,000,000,000. Yes, $3 Trillion more in taxes with no cost cutting in sight. Current legislation leaves unanswered many of questions that will determine perhaps dozens of votes. The final timing and outcome of the vote is in question. We must STOP Reid and his dangerous and destructive plan NOW! The bills reviewed by the CBO have produced even more questions about thier costs and their ability to reduce the deficit. Initial REPORTS FROM CAPITAL HILL SHOW DISAPPOINTMENT FROM LIBERAL SENATORS AND CONSERVATIVE DEMOCRATS alike about what is in the bill and what's been left out. ObamaCare which does nothing to cut costs and improve care or even guarantees a reduction in premiums must be stopped just look at what it will do! Seniors lose $500 Billion from Medicare - O NO ObamaCare! You pay TAXES on Employer health care plans - O NO ObamaCare! Uninsured forced to spend 20% of income to be insured - O NO ObamaCare! Retired Union Members healthcare benefits get TAXED - O NO ObamaCare! NEW TAXES on Americans earning less than $250,000/yr - O NO ObamaCare! Americans PAY an additional estimated $3500/yr for coverage - O NO ObamaCare! Cancer patient care rationing - O NO ObamaCare! "ObamaCare" Can Be Stopped... Just read the ObamaCare CHART. House Minority Leader John Boehner and other Republicans asked the Joint Economic Committee to draw up the ObamaCare Chart. To the average American, it looks like a maze that they'll have to navigate before receiving medical care. AND IT IS -- the parts in white already exist, and the colored boxes are the new entities, offices, requirements, reports, and subsidies the Democrats' bill would create. Don't hold your breath. Once again, the Democrats are using their majority power like they're dictators, trying to keep the TRUTH from the American people and their Representatives in Congress. We MUST not let them succeed! That's why we've set up our site to enable you to send "blast faxes" to every single Senator and Representative on Capitol Hill, demanding that they read every line of the ObamaCare bill, look at every single detail exposed by this new chart, and KILL this new attempt at a government takeover of American healthcare! Please don't delay -- Congress is in session right now, and if we don't stand up and FIGHT against the radical Left, there might be nothing left of the America we know and love for our children! Take action now! Sincerely, ![]() Alan M. Gottlieb Chairman, AmeriPAC P.S. Republican Rep. Steve King has stood strong on the floor of the House in opposing ObamaCare, saying, "You can't understand this health care program if you read the print." THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN! We need to completely overwhelm every single Congressman and Senator's office, DEMANDING that they look at the details of ObamaCare, and KILL THE BILL. But we need YOU to take action NOW to make it happen! Please make checks payable to AmeriPAC: American Political Action Committee (AmeriPAC) PO Box 1682 Dept Code 3275 Bellevue, WA 98009-1682

White House aides: No Afghan decision before Thanksgiving

SEOUL -- President Barack Obama will not announce his decision on sending more troops to Afghanistan before the Thanksgiving holiday, senior aides said on Thursday.
The news came as the president greeted 1,500 troops at Osan Air Base in South Korea, just before boarding Air Force One and heading back to Washington after an eight-day Asia trip.
Obama and his top military and diplomatic aides have been deliberating for months over how to proceed in Afghanistan, where the United States and its partners have sought for eight years to defeat the Taliban and deny al-Qaeda a safe haven from which it can plan and launch attacks.
Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, the top U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan, has stated that without the deployment of up to 40,000 additional of troops within the next year, the mission "will likely result in failure." But some aides are arguing for a much smaller troop increase, and the U.S. ambassador in Kabul, Karl W. Eikenberry, has questioned whether the Afghan government can be a reliable partner.
Obama said in interviews Wednesday that he would reveal his decision within the next several weeks. On Thursday, aides clarified that there would be no announcement before Thanksgiving, one week away. Senior administration officials said Obama intends to meet with his national security team again before going public with his plans.
Obama did not mention the looming decision in his remarks to U.S. troops, referring to the Afghan conflict only by thanking South Korea for its efforts and expressing gratitude to the American soldiers who have served there.
But he did discuss the region in his meeting with South Korean President Lee Myung-Bak, whose government has is sending 150 civilian aid workers to Afghanistan.
Obama arrived on the base 3:19 p.m. local time (1 a.m. Eastern Standard Time), and received a rousing welcome from 1,500 troops in camouflage uniforms, many holding cameras or pointing cell phones to snap pictures.
"You guys make a pretty good photo op," the president said.
Standing on a riser wearing a blue suit and red tie, with a cluster of troops and a large American flag behind him, Obama expressed "the gratitude of the American public" and said his meetings in four countries over eight days in Asia will help deliver a "safer more prosperous world for all of us."
He got a huge cheer when he told them he was increasing military pay. "That's what you call an applause line," he said, before boarding his jet and taking off at 4:11 p.m.

BEIJING -- President Obama directly acknowledged for the first time Wednesday that the prison facility at Guantanamo Bay will not close by the January deadline he set, but he said he hoped to still achieve that goal sometime next year.
Obama refused, however, to set a new deadline.
In an interview in the Chinese capital with Major Garrett of Fox News, Obama said he was "not disappointed" that the Guantanamo deadline had slipped, saying he "knew this was going to be hard."
"People, I think understandably, are fearful after a lot of years where they were told that Guantanamo was critical to keep terrorists out," Obama said. Closing the facility, he added, is "also just technically hard."
Obama came to office pledging to shut a detainee facility that had become a symbol for prisoner abuse at the hands of American officials. He signed orders to shut the military prison by January 2010, but White House officials quickly encountered resistance from members of Congress opposed to moving prisoners to U.S. soil and from other countries they had hoped would accept detainees.
There was also a tangle of legal issues involving what to do with suspected terrorists who had been tortured in prison in a way that jeopardized the integrity of the evidence against them, or who for other reasons could not stand trial.
Last week, the administration announced that it will try five Guantanamo prisoners -- including Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the self-declared mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks -- in federal court in New York. The fate of dozens of other detainees remains in limbo.
Guantanamo is a sensitive subject in China, where Obama conducted the television interview shortly before wrapping up a two-day visit. The United States has refused to release some ethnic minorities, known as Uighurs, back to Chinese officials for fear that they will be tortured. Several Uighurs who had been detained at Guantanamo have been sent instead to Bermuda and Palau after being cleared as non-combatants.
Despite the slow trickle of prisoners out of the facility, Obama insisted in the interview that the facility will be shuttered eventually.
"We are on a path and a process where I would anticipate that Guantanamo will be closed next year," he said. "I'm not going to set an exact date because a lot of this is also going to depend on cooperation from Congress."
