VIENNA (Reuters) – The U.N. nuclear watchdog fears Iran may be working now to develop a nuclear-armed missile, the agency said on Thursday, throwing independent weight behind Western suspicions of an active Iranian weapons program.

In unusually blunt language surfacing under new chief Yukiya Amano, an International Atomic Energy Agency report for the first time suggested Iran was actively chasing nuclear weapons capability rather than merely having done so in the past.

The IAEA seemed to be cautiously going public with suspicions arising from a classified agency analysis leaked in part last year which concluded that Iran has already honed explosives expertise relevant to a workable nuclear weapon.

CBN News has learned exclusively that five Muslim soldiers at Fort Jackson in South Carolina were arrested just before Christmas and are in custody. The five men were part of the Arabic Translation program at the base.

The men are suspected of trying to poison the food supply at Fort Jackson.

A source with intimate knowledge of the investigation, which is ongoing, told CBN News investigators suspect the "Fort Jackson Five" may have been in contact with the group of five Washington, DC area Muslims that traveled to Pakistan to wage jihad against U.S. troops in December. That group was arrested by Pakistani authorities, also just before Christmas.

Coming as it does on the heels of November's Fort Hood jihadist massacre, this news has major implications.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney rallied conservative activists today during a brief yet surprise appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
"I think 2010 will be a phenomenal year for the conservative cause and I think Barack Obama is a one-term president," Cheney said to a standing ovation.

He walked out to applause, chants of "Cheney" and a standing ovation as he appeared after daughter Liz Cheney's speech.

"A welcome like that is almost enough to make me want to run for office," Cheney said, laughing. "But I'm not going to do it."

Pajamas Media – Last month, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and her senior staff privately metin Washington, D.C., with a select group of Muslim, Arab, and Sikh organizations. Among the mix were three organizations directly associated with an outlawed terrorist entity — the Muslim Brotherhood.

Secretary Napolitano spent an hour and a half briefing them on Department of Homeland Security (DHS) counter-radicalization and anti-terrorist programs. The intensive briefings spanned two days (January 27 and 28) and were called by the DHS.

Although there is no evidence of an exchange of classified information, this meeting was the beginning of an Obama administration program aimed at devising a new information-sharing framework with the Muslim organizations — some of them regarded as extremist because of their ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. The group is to meet regularly with DHS senior aides and with Napolitano. This program was imported from the United Kingdom. The Obama administration has decided to replicate the UK program to win over Muslims and to get them to collaborate with the federal government.

Although Matthew Chandler, deputy press secretary and spokesman for Secretary Napolitano, refused to comment on the meetings or identify the groups that attended the two-day session, Pajamas Media has learned the identities of a number of the participants and interviewed them — including those linked to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Police '99 Percent' Sure Israel Is Behind Hamas Killing

Dubai police chief Dahi Khalfan Tamim said Thursday he was "99 percent certain" that Israel was involved in the killing of a Hamas militant at a luxury hotel, as Israeli diplomats played down British and Irish concerns that passports from the two countries were forged as part of the plot.

Tamim told Emirati newspaper The National that the investigation revealed Mossad, Israel's spy agency, to be behind the murder.

But Israel played down the diplomatic disagreement following the killing of a top Hamas commander in Dubai by alleged Mossad agents caught on camera and carrying European passports.

"It is important to note that no one (formally) accuses Israel. There is no proof linking Israel to this affair," a senior official said ahead of a meeting on Thursday to which the Foreign Office in London invited Israel's ambassador.

The Israeli official, who asked not to be named, stressed that British authorities "have not summoned the ambassador but invited him for a discussion," showing Britain wanted to make it clear "there is no crisis."

Ireland also called in its Israeli ambassador.

The killing of Mahmoud al Mabhouh, a top militant of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, last month while allegedly on a weapons purchasing trip to Dubai was widely blamed on Mossad.

Dubai police released the photos and names of 11 suspects with European passports – six from Britain, three from Ireland, one from Germany and one from France – alleged to be members of the hit squad.

In keeping with tradition, Mossad, which used agents with fake foreign passports for such operations in the past, kept mum on the affair.

Dubai's police chief also insisted Thursday the passports were genuine.

"Dubai's police investigation may present the Israeli government and intelligence with tough questions," Israeli newspaper Haaretz said.

The newspaper also asked in an editorial whether it was "proper to place in harm's way Israelis whose identities were ostensibly stolen and used by the assassins?"

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown on Wednesday pledged a "full investigation" of the passports affair.

But Israel's mass-selling Yediot Aharonot newspaper insisted Thursday "the European states whose passports were used cannot direct firm accusations at Israel before they know the facts clearly."

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Thursday there was no reason to believe Mossad was involved, shrugging off suggestions that ties between Israel and Britain could be strained over the affair.

"There is no reason to think that it was the Israeli Mossad and not some other intelligence service or country up to some mischief," he said.

"I think Britain recognizes that Israel is a responsible country and that our security activity is conducted according to very clear, cautious and responsible rules of the game. Therefore we have no cause for concern."

Once upon a time the government had a vast scrap yard in the middle of a desert. Congress said, "Someone may steal from it at night."

So they created a night watchman position and hired a person for the job.

Then Congress said, "How does the watchman do his job without instruction?" So they created a planning department and hired two people, one person to write the instructions, and one person to do time studies.

Then Congress said, "How will we know the night watchman is doing the tasks correctly?" So they created a Quality Control department and hired two people. One to do the studies and one to write the reports.

Then Congress said, "How are these people going to get paid?" So They created the following positions, a time keeper, and a payroll officer, then hired two people.

Then Congress said, "Who will be accountable for all of these people?"
So they created an administrative section and hired three people, an Administrative Officer, Assistant Administrative Officer, and a Legal Secretary.

Then Congress said, "We have had this command in operation for one Year and we are $18,000 over budget, we must cutback overall cost.."

So they laid off the night watchman.

NOW slowly, let it sink in.

Quietly, we go like sheep to slaughter.

Does anybody remember the reason given for the establishment of the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY...... during the Carter Administration?

THEY HAVE OVER 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES AND APPROXIMATELY 100,000ish CONTRACT EMPLOYEES; AND LOOK AT THE JOB THEY HAVE DONE! THIS IS WHERE YOU SLAP YOUR FOREHEAD AND SAY, "WHAT WAS I THINKING?"

Economist Arthur B. Laffer, head of the Office of Management and Budget under President Ronald Reagan and founder and chairman of economic research and consulting firm Laffer Associates, says President Barack Obama's proposed budget "is the perfect plan for catastrophe."

"It shows no spending restraint and is raising tax rates," Laffer told Newsmax.TV's Kathleen Walter.

He said the budget blueprint puts a greater burden on people who work and gives more money to people who don't.

"If you tax people who work and pay people who don't, do not be surprised if you find a lot of people not working," Laffer says.

"If you tax rich people and give the money to poor people, you're going to have lots and lots of poor people and no rich people," he says.

"The dream in America has always been to make the poor rich, not to make the rich poor. Obama's budget literally tries to make the rich poor and does not try to make the poor rich," he says.

If you have two locations with different tax rates, producers and manufacturers will move to the locale with lower rates, he says.

Obama takes no account whatsoever on the effect this will have on global competitiveness and the creation of jobs in the United States, he says.

Obama, Laffer says, is wrong on every single issue, is unrealistic, lacks experience and is causing a lot of damage to the economy.

"It's just incredible how systematic he is in making errors," Laffer observes.

"It's a classic professorial response: In the classroom, you never have skin in the game, you're never held accountable for your pronouncement, and that's exactly what's going on here," he says.

Laffer would like to return to the tactics Paul Volcker used when he took over the Fed, which include intervening in the money markets to maintain purchasing power and parity of the dollar.

"The results were incredible," Laffer says. "The dollar soared, interest rates tumbled and inflation literally disappeared from the U.S."

Laffer also suggests eliminating the alternative minimum tax and reinstating the Bush tax cuts that are currently scheduled to expire this year.

Not reinstating the cuts will make 2010 look very good on paper and cause a major recession in 2011.

"If you know that tax rates are going to go up on January 1, 2011, you try to accelerate all the income you possibly can into 2010, which will make 2010 look a lot better than it should," he points out. "Then, on January 1, 2011, the train goes off the track."

The sheer size of unfunded liabilities is "awesome, just amazing," Laffer says.

Civil service and military retirement and medical benefits, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and that's not even taking into account things like California and unfunded pensions.

The Obama administration needs to go through each of these and literally change the rules.

"You've got to go through all these programs meticulously and make sure you eliminate things that increase unfunded liabilities, which now exceed $100 trillion," Laffer says. "Our GDP is only worth $14 trillion."

Laffer wants to see unspent bailout funds returned.

"Not only have those programs not done any good, they've actually hurt the economy, and they've hurt it a lot," he says.

"You can't bail someone out of trouble without putting someone else into trouble. For every stimulus check written, there is a liability to someone else," he says. "The sooner we stop the stimulus packages, the better off we'll be."

Laffer expects the U.S. economy will look very strong for 2010, but none of the things that will make it appear strong will be present in 2011.

The government has printed huge amounts of new money, he points out, which has stimulated stock and bond prices and commodity prices, but the effects of that will be short-lived.

However, we should not lose hope that the United States will once again become the land of opportunity, says Laffer.

"All we have to do is go back to common sense economics. If we had a low flat-rate tax … can you imagine how this economy would boom with that? It would be beautiful," he says.

"And if you make the dollar solid … people won't have to go into gold and silver. We can do that just the way Paul Volcker did."

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) on Tuesday used the D.C. snowstorm to make a political jab, saying that it provides evidence for global warming skeptics.

The conservative senator took to Twitter on Tuesday amid reports that the area is due to receive another 10 to 20 inches of snow this week:

It's going to keep snowing in DC until Al Gore cries "uncle"

Some conservatives have echoed DeMint's sentiments that the snowstorm should poke holes in evidence backing global warming.

DeMint took direct aim at the former vice president, who is one of the foremost proponents of government action to counter global warming.

Reports of more snow caused the House of Representatives to call off the rest of its votes scheduled for this week. The Washington, D.C. area was blanketed with about two feet of snow last week, causing the Senate to adjourn earlier than expected on Thursday.

The South Carolina senator was not the first Republican to use the snowstorm to make a political point. Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-Kansas) said that absence of votes in the House is a plus for taxpayers

We've been at this fight for well over one year; and, now, I believe that we have a legal case that has a real "LEGAL BITE" to our contention that Barack Hussein Obama is not the President of the United States, according to our own United States Constitution!!

The issue of whether Mr. Obama is eligible to serve as President of the United States is one that has "significant political overtones," given that it has a direct relation to the election of the most powerful political office in the United States (for the world, for that matter). But it is an issue that is a defining moment, for which the Court can make a determination, because the requirements are clearly stated in Article II, Section 1, Clause 4, of the U. S. Constitution. And courts routinely decide questions of law and of fact such as the issue in this case.

But there are many enormous forces coming against the United States Justice Foundation (USJF)! This is no ordinary case. This is like the war of the gladiators; actually more like David and Goliath! Not to be flippant, but, basically, USJF is David; and Mr. Obama is Goliath!! The supposed "forces of change" has come against us with everything that they've got!! As a lawyer, I shouldn't use the word "mafia" -- but it is absolutely unbelievable what we are facing !!

And yes, "little David" is unbelievably underfunded!

As a result, Dr. Alan Keyes and Dr. Drake have been injured because they did not have fair competition for the offices they sought. They were not given a fair opportunity to obtain votes for President and Vice-President of the United States! They sustained "injuries," according to Federal Court case law.

I know that all this sounds like a lot of legal terminology---but all that we simply want is the TRUTH---is Barack Obama qualified, by our own U. S. Constitution, to serve as President of the United States.

NO---I am not on some "witch hunt," as the media has painted me. Veterans, soccer moms, businessmen, school kids, seniors, divorcees, hard workers---all they want is THE TRUTH! Especially our men serving in "harm's way" in our military--they really need to know!!

Did you know that John McCain had a lawsuit filed against him, to force him to establish his citizenship (Hollander v. McCain) during his campaign for President! After he produced evidence and official documents, and after Congressional hearings (!), the U. S., by Senate Resolution 511, John McCain was recognized as a "natural born citizen." Here is how our brief, in part, reads: "APPELLANTS allege that OBAMA is legally disabled by his birth status. Therefore, all votes cast in favor of the OBAMA/BIDEN joint and severable ticket by the California Electors should be deemed null and void, since the votes were cast for an individual ineligible to run for the office of President of the United States."

It's just that plain and simple!

Never in my wildest imagination would I ever think of me having to do this in the United States of America. And, despite what you may have been told by the Obama-controlled media, there are a number of legal precedents for this action.

Like former radical, Black Panther leader Eldridge Cleaver, who was taken off Presidential ballots , both in Utah and in California (the California removal resulted in the ACLU filing a lawsuit to put him back on the Presidential ballot that went all the way up to the United States Supreme Court—and California won that case!) for not being old enough...

Like former North Dakota Governor Thomas H. Moodie, who was duly elected to be that state's governor; however, afterward, it was discovered that he had not resided in the state for a requisite five years before running for office, and, because of that ineligibility, he was REMOVED from office by that State's Supreme Court in 1935.

I assure you; I am not on a personal vendetta against Barack Hussein Obama. JUST LET US KNOW THE TRUTH!! The bottom line: voters DO NOT have the power, or the right, (according to the U. S. Constitution!!) to determine the eligibility of a candidate---no matter how popular that person may be!

Here is the crux of this particular case: Ms. Bowen, the California Secretary of State, did NOT exercise her required "due diligence," by certifying candidates to run for office without verifying that they had met all of the requirements of eligibility for office.

What proof do we need?

• An original birth certificate, showing the name of the hospital and the name and signature of the doctor who delivered the candidate

• A passport with immigration stamps, and verification from the governments where the candidate has resided, verifying that he did not, and does not, hold citizenship of these countries

• Any other documents that could certify an individual's citizenship and/or qualification for office.

With a nationwide TV audience, Barack Obama yesterday tried to trick the nation into believing that he has always been open to conservative ideas on health care. You may have seen his latest ploy. As the Washington Port reported, before the big game Obama sat down with CBS's Katie Couric for a live interview aired during the Super Bowl network's pregame show, an opportunity to reach pigskin fans less than two hours before kickoff. I suppose that shouldn't be surprising that Couric, who had a family member previously serving as Chairman of the Virginia Democratic Party, would provide Obama this platform to reach millions. But what is shocking - truly shocking - is that Couric and other journalists would not force Obama to admit he has been well aware of Republican proposals on health care for months. Instead, Obama was allowed to sit on live television, speak to the nation, and say he now wanted to know about Republican ideas on health care. He now wants to see those ideas. Really? For months Republicans have put forward solutions. In fact, the conservative caucus in the House, the Republican Study Committee, has put forward ideas here for months and months. Now, Obama says he wants to invite Republicans to the White House, to hear their ideas. He told Couric and the nation, "Well I think that what I want to do is to look at the Republican ideas that are out there. And I want to be very specific. "How do you guys want to lower costs?" Well either the President of the United States can't read, or he is continuing to mislead the public. Don't allow Republicans to fall for this ploy. A Message From a Recon Marine in Afghanistan .....




The Sand Pit:

It's freezing here. I'm sitting on hard, cold dirt between rocks and shrubs at the base of the   Hindu Kush    Mountains , along the Dar 'yoi Pomir    River , watching a hole that leads to a tunnel that leads to a cave. Stake out, my friend, and no pizza delivery for thousands of miles.

I also glance at the area around my back side every ten to fifteen seconds to avoid another scorpion sting. I've actually given up battling the chiggers and sand fleas, but them scorpions give a jolt like a cattle

prod. The antidote tastes like transmission fluid, but God bless the Marine Corps for the five vials of it in my pack.

The one truth the Taliban cannot escape is that, believe it or not, they are human beings, which means they have to eat food and drink water. That requires couriers and that's where an old bounty hunter like me comes in handy.. I track the couriers, locate the tunnel entrances and storage facilities, type the info into the handheld, shoot the coordinates up to the satellite link that tells the air commanders where to drop the hardware. We bash some heads for a while, then I track and record the new movement.

It's all about intelligence. We haven't even brought in the snipers yet. These scurrying rats have no idea what they're in for. We are but days way from cutting off supply lines and allowing the eradication to begin.

I dream of bin Laden waking up to find me standing over him with my boot on his throat as I spit into his face and plunge my nickel-plated Bowie knife through his frontal lobe. But you know me, I'm a romantic. I've said it before and I'll say it again: This country blows, man. It's not even a country. There are no roads, there's no infrastructure, there's no government. This is an inhospitable, rock pit hole ruled by eleventh century warring tribes. There are no jobs here like we know jobs.

Afghanistan offers two ways for a man to support his family: join the opium trade or join the army. That's it. Those are your options. Oh, I forgot, you can also live in a refugee camp and eat plum-sweetened, crushed beetle paste and squirt mud like a goose with stomach flu, if that's your idea of a party. But the smell alone of those 'tent cities of the walking dead' is enough to hurl you into the poppy fields to cheerfully scrape bulbs for eighteen hours a day.

I've been living with these Tajiks and Uzbeks, and Turkmen and even a couple of Pushtuns, for over a month-and-a-half now, and this much I can say for sure: These guys, all of 'em, are Huns... Actual, living Huns.. They LIVE to fight. It's what they do. It's ALL they do... They have no respect for anything, not for their families, nor for each other, nor for themselves. They claw at one another as a way of life. They play polo with dead calves and force their five-year-old sons into human cockfights to defend the family honor. Huns, roaming packs of savage, heartless beasts who feed on each other's barbarism. Cavemen with AK-47's Then again, maybe I'm just cranky.

I'm freezing my *** off on this stupid hill because my lap warmer is running out of juice, and I can't recharge it until the sun comes up in a few hours. Oh yeah! You like to write letters, right? Do me a favor. Write a letter to CNN and tell Wolf and Anderson and that awful, sneering, pompous Aaron Brown to stop calling the Taliban 'smart..' They are not smart. I suggest CNN invest in a dictionary because the word they are looking for is 'cunning..' The Taliban are cunning, like jackals and hyenas and wolverines..They are sneaky and ruthless, and when confronted, cowardly. They are hateful, malevolent parasites who create nothing and destroy everything else. Smart.. Pfft. Yeah, they're real smart.

They've spent their entire lives reading only one book (and not a very good one, as books go) and consider hygiene and indoor plumbing to be products of the devil. They're still figuring out how to work a Bic lighter. Talking to a Taliban warrior about improving his quality of life is like trying to teach an ape how to hold a pen; eventually he just gets frustrated and sticks you in the eye with it.

OK, enough. Snuffle will be up soon, so I have to get back to my hole. Covering my tracks in the snow takes a lot of practice, but I'm good at it.

Please, I tell you and my fellow Americans to turn off the TV sets and move on with your lives. The story line you are getting from CNN and other news agencies is utter B-S and designed not to deliver truth but rather to keep you glued to the screen through the commercials. We've got this one under control. The worst thing you guys can do right now is sit around analyzing what we're doing over here, because you have no idea what we're doing, and really, you don't want to know. We are your military, and we are doing what you sent us here to do, keep you safe, and keep the fight off of American soil.
