Dear MARK, Last night Barack Obama said he gave a state of the union address. He said the Constitution required him to give the report. However what Obama gave was not a "state of the union ", he did not address the real state of our union at all. He did not say he has tried a foreign policy of appeasement, bowing in front of foreign leaders and apologizing for America on foreign soil ...and it has failed. He did say that after promising over and over again huge government spending would keep unemployment low - under 8% - it has soared to over 10. He did not report that we are now so severely in debt that he keeps trying to raise the debt ceiling. What we heard was a re-packaging of his same old campaign rhetoric in an attempt to woo you and all Americans into believing his all-out liberal agenda will cure America's ills. What he gave was a speech intended to reignite his Presidency. He is trying to re-start his Presidency in the wake of the Massachusetts Senate results, polls showing Americans turning away from him and anger across our nation seen in the Tea Party rallies and August town hall meetings. Obama hopes you will give up. He hopes everyone who took time out of their day to attend tea parties, Capitol Hill rallies, and the August Town Hall Meetings will just sit silent. He and his administration - Rahm Emanuel, Joe Biden, David Axelrod, Hillary Clinton - and their allies on Capitol Hill all want us to just take a breath, sit back and let them go back to work behind closed doors. They want you to think that Obama gets it - he has heard you and the people of Massachusetts as they voted for Scott Brown. Yep, he gets it ... that's what he wants you to believe. He thinks he can fool you into a false sense of security so he can go back right back into passing their same old tax and spend, foreign appeasement, big government, liberal policy agenda as we all sit silent. NBC News White House Correspondent Savannah Guthrie said that Obama's speech was intended to say "we won't quit" in his agenda. The Charleston, SC Post and Courier newspaper got it right on today's front page. They said the President is "digging in." He is hoping that you will just grow tired and give up fighting. He is hoping that you will fall for lines about "investments" when what he really means is he wants even more massive government spending. He wants you to believe that a "jobs bill" where the government spends more money, rather than truly helping small businesses, will create jobs. The well-respected conservative Heritage Foundation's Morning Briefing said that Obama's speech was "A Speech Only Washington Could Love" as they accurately pointed out that his so-called "new hire tax credit" is an old recycled failed idea from the 1970s and that his spending freeze would start next year, conveniently after the elections. It almost reminds you of a magic show where the magician says "watch this hand" as he performs tricks with the other. Obama was performing magic last night and he wants you to buy it. There was another audience Obama was performing to last night, the actual people sitting in the room. As he spoke to you and other Americans at home, he was also hoping to woo Members of Congress, including those of his own party and any moderate Republicans he could peel off to support his agenda. He and his team know that moderate Democrats have been panic stricken as they saw liberal Senator Ted Kennedy's seat fall to Republican Scott Brown in Massachusetts. There has been hand-wringing, and shouting behind closed doors as moderate Democrats have placed blame against liberals and visa versa, pointing fingers at one another. So last night he is hoping that he calmed you and other Americans down long enough so that he can get back to passing their liberal agenda though Congress. He wants us to stop contacting Congressional offices. He wants us to stop urging people to attend events. He wants us to stop coordinating our efforts. Nothing President Obama has done in the last year has convinced us that we can believe him in his call to limit spending. Senator John Thune wrote a letter to President Obama this week saying, "nearly a year later, the American people are worried that your words have not been matched by action. Excluding defense and veterans funding, regular discretionary appropriations have increased 21 percent between fiscal years 2008 and 2010, contributing to an anticipated annual deficit of $1.5 trillion - the biggest ever. To put it another way, the federal government has increased its spending at six times the rate of inflation. We can no longer afford to keep that pace." Senator Thune is right. From a stimulus plan that perpetuated waste and fraud in the federal budget to the continued liberal push to fund ACORN, Obama's fiscal policy has been about spending more and appeasing liberal special interests. After looking at Obama's first year in office, he should have said this: "I have spent our nation into debt, I gave out almost $1 trillion of taxpayer money for a stimulus plan that did not stimulate, I bowed to foreign leaders and apologized for America on foreign soil with no results and I have tried to pass every liberal policy agenda item possible in the last year." However, that is not what Obama said. Even NBC's political reporting unit got it right when they said, "Indeed, a cynic might say last night's speech was the opening salvo in Obama's re-election in 2012." FOXNews said, "President Obama renewed virtually all his campaign promises in the State of the Union address Wednesday night." Obama and the liberals in Congress want us to stay silent as he goes back to re-start his Presidency. We want the Obama Administration and Members of Congess to know that we will not fall for the same agenda in a re-packaged form. That is why we want and need your help by signing the petition letter here. Help us fight back and join our effort to send this message today. : Stop Obama's Attemps MARK to Re-Start His Presidency and Agenda
Obama Lies About Lobbyists
Tonight, Barack Obama said, "To close that credibility gap we must take action on both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue to end the outsized influence of lobbyists; to do our work openly; and to give our people the government they deserve.
"That's what I came to Washington to do. That's why - for the first time in history - my Administration posts our White House visitors online. And that's why we've excluded lobbyists from policy-making jobs or seats on federal boards and commissions."
Maybe this explains why his national security policies are so weak. He put William Lynn in the Pentagon as Deputy Defense Secretary. Mr. Lynn was a lobbyist for Defense Contractor Ratheon. I guess the Deputy Defense Secretary is not a policy-making job.
- Eric Holder, attorney general nominee, was registered to lobby until 2004 on behalf of clients including Global Crossing, a bankrupt telecommunications firm [now confirmed].
- Tom Vilsack, secretary of agriculture nominee, was registered to lobby as recently as last year on behalf of the National Education Association.
- William Lynn, deputy defense secretary nominee, was registered to lobby as recently as last year for defense contractor Raytheon, where he was a top executive.
- William Corr, deputy health and human services secretary nominee, was registered to lobby until last year for the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, a non-profit that pushes to limit tobacco use.
- David Hayes, deputy interior secretary nominee, was registered to lobby until 2006 for clients, including the regional utility San Diego Gas & Electric.
- Mark Patterson, chief of staff to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, was registered to lobby as recently as last year for financial giant Goldman Sachs.
- Ron Klain, chief of staff to Vice President Joe Biden, was registered to lobby until 2005 for clients, including the Coalition for Asbestos Resolution, U.S. Airways, Airborne Express and drug-maker ImClone.
- Mona Sutphen, deputy White House chief of staff, was registered to lobby for clients, including Angliss International in 2003.
- Melody Barnes, domestic policy council director, lobbied in 2003 and 2004 for liberal advocacy groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union, the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, the American Constitution Society and the Center for Reproductive Rights.
- Cecilia Munoz, White House director of intergovernmental affairs, was a lobbyist as recently as last year for the National Council of La Raza, a Hispanic advocacy group.
- Patrick Gaspard, White House political affairs director, was a lobbyist for the Service Employees International Union.
- Michael Strautmanis, chief of staff to the president's assistant for intergovernmental relations, lobbied for the American Association of Justice from 2001 until 2005.

liberals are trying to raise the nation's debt ceiling
|
In an effort to hurry through even more spending the liberals in Congress are now trying to raise the nation's debt ceiling. I am sure you are familiar with the debt ceiling. The debt ceiling was put in place to ensure that there are at least some checks and balances as it relates to reckless spending by Congress and borrowing money to pay for it. But, after spending nearly a trillion dollars on a failed stimulus package and billions more in liberal special interest earmarks, the liberals in the House and Senate are conspiring behind closed doors to raise the nation's debt ceiling so they can spend even more. As our nation hovers close to hitting the debt ceiling, Congress should see this as a warning that the spending should stop. Instead the liberals that control Congress are trying to spend even more. We must demand that Congress cut spending and not raise the debt ceiling. ACU is fighting this battle and we need your help. The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) notes the debt ceiling started with a law in 1917, and the limitation was modified into a ceiling on the total amount of most Federal debt outstanding. The current system has been fully in place since 1941. The ceiling is supposed to help keep our national finances healthy and our country from becoming a poor investment in the world. Now with rampant federal spending, the liberals in Congress are trying to raise that ceiling and threaten our nation's standing. Worse, Congress already raised the ceiling some just last month. Congress voted to increase the debt ceiling by $290 billion to $12.394 trillion. Congress already raised the ceiling to over $12 trillion. Just think about that. Now they want to raise it more? The Washington Post has reported that the Senate is picking up debate on a plan to "raise the nation's debt limit by $1.9 trillion, a move that Democrats hope will see the Treasury through this fall's congressional elections." Market News International's Washington Bureau reports that Senate Republicans have indicated that they plan to offer amendments that cap discretionary spending and rescind spending from last year's stimulus bill. We applaud their efforts. Now we need to send a strong message, that we back them up. The Post says that the record increase the liberals want would raise the Treasury's legal ceiling for borrowing to $14.3 trillion -"about the size of the nation's overall economy." Read that carefully, the liberals want to increase the "debt ceiling to about the size of the nation's overall economy." We absolutely must fight back. When you sign the petition we also going to provide you phone numbers for your Senators so you can call them to also urge them to oppose increasing the ceiling. The liberals just want to keep spending. They want to fuel their continued efforts toward government-run health care, they want to push through new federal programs and they are even discussing doing more stimulus spending. The Washington Post already reports that, "Treasury expects to exceed the current debt limit of $12.4 trillion as soon as next month." Now the liberals led by Pelosi and Reid, with the backing of Obama, want to try and spend even more. At some point it has to stop. The last budget signed by the President and pushed through Congress already assumed a deficit of almost $1.7 trillion without any long term control of the budget deficit. Now the liberals are trying to increase the overall debt ceiling so they can pass even more budgets like this one. We need to fight back. We need your help by signing the petition here and supporting this effort of ACU. Together we will send a message that the spending must stop. Sincerely, Dennis Whitfield Executive Vice President Former Reagan Deputy Secretary of Labor P.S. As our nation's economy still continues to struggle to reach a full recovery, we cannot have this continued out-of-control Washington spending. If the liberals get away with increasing the debt ceiling, that is exactly what might happen. Help ACU today send a message to oppose raising the debt ceiling.

Dick Morris: Pelosi and Reid Plot Secret Plan for Obamacare
Dick Morris: Pelosi and Reid Plot Secret Plan for Obamacare
By: Dick Morris and Eileen McGann
Highly informed sources on Capitol Hill have revealed to me details of the Democratic plan to sneak Obamacare through Congress, despite collapsing public approval for healthcare "reform" and disintegrating congressional support in the wake of Republican Scott Brown's victory in Massachusetts.
President Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid all have agreed to the basic framework of the plan.
Their plan is clever but can be stopped if opponents of radical healthcare reform act quickly and focus on a core group of 23 Democratic Congressman. If just a few of these 23 Democrats are "flipped" and decide to oppose the bill, the whole Obama-Pelosi-Reid stratagem falls apart.
Here's what I learned top Democrats are planning to implement.
Senate Democrats will go to the House with a two-part deal.
First, the House will pass the Senate's Obamacare bill that passed the Senate in December. The House leadership will vote on the Senate bill, and Pelosi will allow no amendments or modifications to the Senate bill.
How will Pelosi's deal fly with rambunctious liberal members of her majority who don't like the Senate bill, especially its failure to include a public option, put heavy fines on those who don't get insurance, and offering no income tax surcharge on the "rich"?
That's where the second part of the Pelosi-deal comes in.
Behind closed doors, Reid and Pelosi have agreed in principle that changes to the Senate bill will be made to satisfy liberal House members — but only after the Senate bill is passed and signed into law by Obama.
This deal will be secured by a pledge from Reid and the Senate's Democratic caucus that they will make "fixes" to the Senate bill after it becomes law with Obama's John Hancock.
But you may ask what about the fact that, without Republican Scott Brown and independent Democrats such as Joe Lieberman, Reid simply doesn't have the 60 votes in the Senate to overcome a Republican filibuster that typically can stop major legislation?
According to my source, Reid will provide to Pelosi a letter signed by 52 Democratic senators indicating they will pass the major changes, or "fixes," the House Democrats are demanding. Again, these fixes will be approved by the Senate only after Obama signs the Senate bill into law.
Reid also has agreed to bypass Senate cloture and filibuster rules and claim that these modifications fall under "reconciliation" and don't require 60 Senate votes.
To pass the fixes, he won't need one Republican; he won't even need Joe Lieberman or wavering Democrats such as Jim Webb of Virginia.
His 52 pledged senators give him a simple majority to pass any changes they want, which will later be rubberstamped by Pelosi's House and signed by Obama.
This plan, of course, is a total subversion of the legislative process.
Typically, the Senate and House pass their own unique legislation and then both bills go to a conference committee. In conference, the leadership of both Democrat-dominated houses wheels and deals and irons out differences.
The final compromise bill is then sent back to the full Senate and full House for a vote and has to pass both to go to the president.
In the House, a simple majority passes the legislation. But under Senate rules, major legislation requires 60 votes to end a filibuster.
As it stands, the House bill and Senate bill have major discrepancies. Reid does not have 60 votes to pass a compromise bill that would no doubt include some of the radical provisions House members have been demanding.
But if the House passes the exact Senate bill that passed by a 60-39 Senate vote last month, there is no need for a conference on the bill. It will go directly to the president's desk.
There is a rub to all of this.
This secret plan being hatched by Pelosi and Reid requires not only a pledge by 52 Democratic senators to vote later for the House modifications. House liberals must actually believe these Senators will live up to their pledge and pass the fixes at some future date.
A Senate source cautions: "Senators more than House members and both more than ordinary people, lie."
Still, my Senate source and others in Washington believe that the liberals in the House, grasping at straws after the stunning Massachusetts defeat, will go along with the Reid-Pelosi plan to bypass a conference bill and ultimately will vote for the Senate version without changes.
Among the key "fixes" House liberals are demanding the Senate pass in reconciliation at some later date include a "carve out" for unions from the "Cadillac policy" insurance tax. The Senate plan funds their healthcare plan by heavy taxes on so-called "Cadillac" insurance plans that provide those insured with exceptionally good coverage including almost unlimited health access with little or no co-payments. The Senate's view was that rich people have such plans and should be taxed for them to pay the less fortunate.
But many unions have Cadillac plans for their members, and they are furious their members will be hit with the Senate tax. The unions have told their minions in the House to oppose the Senate Cadillac plan tax.
House liberals also are requiring a fix that increases fines for those who flout the law and don't buy health insurance (the Pelosi-passed plan includes criminal penalties, including possible jail time if a person doesn't purchase insurance). Another fix will raise subsidies for low-income families seeking to buy insurance.
In the original House bill that passed, healthcare expansion costs would have been paid for by an income tax surcharge on the "rich." House liberals are pushing for that fix as well.
So what is the counter-move? How do opponents of Obamacare stop this?
Opponents cannot rely on liberal Democrats in the House who might balk at passing the Senate bill with just a "pledge" from 52 senators. I have no doubt House liberals, despite their skepticism, will fade under pressure from Pelosi and Obama. They will do their duty and pass the Senate bill, whatever their current posturing.
Instead, the key to stopping the Pelosi-Reid plan lies with conservative or "moderate" Democrats who voted for the healthcare bill the first time.
There are 23 of these conservative-leaning Democratic House members who voted for Pelosi's Obamacare back in November, which passed by just five votes, with 39 Democrats defecting to vote against the bill.
All 23 of these congressmen who did vote for the Pelosi bill are extremely vulnerable.
Opponents of Obamacare need to climb all over these 23 congressmen with TV ads and advocacy campaigns in their districts to get them to change their vote this time, to vote "no" to the Senate bill when it comes before the House.
Voters need to say, "You voted for Obamacare the first time. But your district opposes it by 2 to 1. Now it is coming up for a vote again. Listen to your constituents and vote no. We don't want Medicare cuts or premium increases or rationing of medical care. Don't monkey with our healthcare. Vote no this time."
Since the House healthcare bill passed by five votes, much has happened and the political landscape has changed dramatically.
The Massachusetts election of a Republican to Ted Kennedy's Senate seat has sent shock waves through Washington. Every one of these 23 Democrats knows they will face an angry backlash in their districts if they vote for the Senate bill and go along with Pelosi-Reid plan to ram through Obamacare.
I believe now is the time for opponents to act. The truth is that Obamacare is hanging by a thread.
Opponents, if they move now, can drive a stake through its heart.
Once these congressmen hear from their aroused constituents, they won't be able to back Obamacare.
As I mentioned, the Pelosi health bill passed the House by only 220-215. Nancy Pelosi knows she has no margin for error.
If only a handful of these 23 congressmen change their vote under public pressure, the Pelosi-Reid plan is stopped and Obamacare is dead.
